AJA and Comprimato, a live video encoding and processing software developer, aim to accelerate streaming innovation, enhance workflow efficiency and encourage monetisation.
AJA Video Systems has entered into an agreement to acquire Comprimato, a live video encoding and processing software developer and provider for virtualised and cloud productions and broadcasts. The move will unify the AJA and Comprimato development teams responsible for AJA's BRIDGE LIVE family of IP streaming products. The two companies aim to help accelerate streaming innovation that brings further workflow efficiency, improved content monetisation opportunities and other advantages.
Comprimato was founded in the Czech Republic and develops live video encoding and processing software devoted to broadcast applications. The company develops GPU-accelerated solutions for virtualised and cloud-based broadcast production, including live transcoding, standards conversion, ST 2110 IP encoding and an extremely fast software JPEG 2000 codec. With a diverse range of customers, Comprimato's systems support codecs including JPEG 2000, JPEG-XS, HEVC and H.264 across cloud, on-premise and hybrid deployments.
As part of the agreement, AJA will acquire Comprimato's comprehensive portfolio of software solutions. This includes Live Transcoder for video encoding and transcoding, Live Standards Conversion for flexible frame rate conversion, the Twenty-One SMPTE ST 2110 encoding appliance and the JPEG 2000 Codec SDK.
Comprimato CEO and Co-founder Jiří Matela and the entire Comprimato leadership, development and operations team will join AJA once the deal is closed. Comprimato will continue to operate as a separate brand under AJA and retain its European offices. Sales structures, including sales, channels, customer support and currently shipping products, will not be impacted. The terms of the deal are not disclosed.
