Under a definitive agreement between Rohde & Schwarz and Imagine Communications, Imagine will acquire Pixel Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rohde & Schwarz. The transaction represents a strategic alignment for both companies, allowing Imagine to make an extensive portfolio of live production and playout solutions available to broadcasters, while Rohde and Schwarz focus on its core operations in test & measurement, technology systems and networks & cybersecurity. The acquisition is expected to close in 2025 and is subject to customary closing conditions.
Imagine and Pixel Power have a shared vision for the IP- and cloud-based future of broadcast and digital streaming markets. This strategic acquisition means that Imagine will be able to immediately broaden its live production ecosystem and playout tools through integration of Pixel Power’s software-defined platforms that can be deployed from anywhere on COTS hardware. The two companies’ complementary approaches, technologies and engineering expertise are anticipated to expand integration possibilities and tools, serving a broader set of workflows.
In particular, Pixel Power’s PRISMON multiviewer, which has comprehensive master control and cloud functionality, will complement the ultra-low-latency production capabilities of Imagine’s SNP Multiviewer. Imagine expects to be able to deliver a more comprehensive portfolio of IP and IP-hybrid multiviewer solutions.
Software-defined and cloud-ready, PRISMON can be deployed at scale, delivering coverage for a huge number of signals and mosaic views. PRISMON’s intelligent software architecture allows multiple servers to interconnect, so that each individual picture-in-picture is created only once and shared on demand across the entire network. This action minimises bandwidth usage and capacity load. With its Multiviewer Control Center function, operators can flexibly manage numerous displays from one single interface. Its monitoring-by-exception visualisation has flexible penalty-boxing and presentation tools, and its coverage of standards, formats and protocols is very wide.

Imagine will maintain the Cambridge facility, and combine Pixel Power’s existing support with Imagine’s care and services team. The goal is to fully support all current, global customers and the installed base for Pixel Power’s PRISMON, Gallium and StreamMaster platforms.
"We’re excited to welcome the talented Pixel Power team to the Imagine family," said John Mailhot, senior vice president, product management, at Imagine Communications. "This acquisition enhances our ability to deliver innovative, business-driving solutions for our customers, and we’re proud to continue building on the strong foundation established under Rohde & Schwarz."

Our team is energized by the possibilities ahead and ready to help shape the next chapter of broadcast technology.”
Pixel Power customers and partners can expect the same level of service, now backed by Imagine’s broadcast industry resources and experience. All parties are firmly focused on continuity and are working together to ensure a smooth, collaborative transition.
