Grass Valley’s Maverik X Production Switcher on the AMPP Platform can now be directly controlled via Ross Video’s OverDrive production automation for broadcast studio productions.
Grass Valley’s Maverik X Production Switcher, available on the AMPP OS (Agile Media Processing Platform), can now be directly controlled via Ross Video’s OverDrive production automation. Resulting from a collaboration between the two companies, this integration makes the two systems directly interoperable, thereby increasing flexibility for broadcasters’ studio production workflows.
In effect, the developers have grown OverDrive’s capabilities to include the Maverik X Production Switcher. The update is in line with Ross Video’s work to expand OverDrive’s compatibility with a wide range of third-party devices so that broadcast teams can continue using the production tools that work best for them.
“Media organizations today need freedom to build systems that match their unique workflows by integrating the best solutions from across the industry,” said Adam Marshall, Chief Product Officer at Grass Valley. “With OverDrive support now available for Maverik X, media organizations can modernize their infrastructure while maintaining the familiar OverDrive UI and user interaction. It avoids disruption for operators while using AMPP’s processing for greater agility and flexibility in hybrid deployments.
OverDrive’s NRCS Plugin
“AMPP OS was designed from the start as an open platform, and built for direct integration with a variety of solutions across the industry. The growing adoption of the GV Technology Alliance is a testament to this commitment. We’re excited to see industry-leading automation tools like Ross Video’s OverDrive, now taking control over AMPP OS-based solutions like Maverik X. This deep, bidirectional collaboration underscores our mission to deliver unmatched choice and flexibility for customers.”
Broadcasters around the world use Ross Video’s OverDrive to drive many hours of live production content, valued for its tight newsroom integration, straightforward UI and rundown-based control. OverDrive’s NRCS Plugin was among the first HTML5 MOS plugins to be rolled out under the new MOS spec. Now compatible with over 220 third-party devices, OverDrive assists producers and TDs who need to execute fast-paced shows with precision and consistency.
Rundown Control is OverDrive’s primary application for managing all production elements, effects and transitions for rundown-based scripted or on-the-fly unscripted productions. DirectControl allows direct, manual control of the production’s devices through a consolidated UI. OverDrive can also be used via templates that are edited, managed and configured with a dedicated Templates Editor. OverDrive has multiple user-definable timers to keep track of such features as program time, event time, clip time and NRCS timing information.
