COBALT UltraBlue IP-MV multiviewer
Cobalt Digital, signal processing designer/manufacturer for live video production and master control, has added a scalable software-based multiviewer to its line up as the company turns its attention toward IP-based operations. The COBALT UltraBlue IP-MV multiviewer joined a number of other ST 2110 products on the stand at IBC.
The new multiviewer can be delivered as a turnkey set-up with four HDMI heads, or as a software package to run on customer-supplied dedicated hardware. Features include support for receiving audio/video content over IP across a variety of protocols and formats, with very flexible audio routing, handling options to suit most applications.
IP/SDI Inputs and Outputs
The web interface incorporates support for compressed and baseband (ST 2110) IP/SDI inputs and outputs. This compatibility means users can expand and adjust the multiviewer’s functionality as their needs change. To control security, multiple-user logins are supported, as well as per-user access privileges.

Mosaic configurations are simplified with tools for arbitrary sizes and orientations, graphic overlays, ancillary data, tallies, UMDs and IDs. Users can copy their PIP configurations, and save and restore any setups. UltraBlue IP-MV will drive multiple HDMI displays in any orientation – landscape or portrait, with selectable parameters per-display. PIPs can also be arbitrarily placed as you go, and rotated.
The COBALT UltraBlue IP-MV incorporates support for common types of ancillary data, including various types of closed-captioning display. As well as flexible output audio routing, the multiviewer features full audio support with fully configurable audio bars.
In GPU enabled systems, UltraBlue IP-MV will be able to use GPU acceleration. The number of inputs, streams and heads will be a function of the available CPU/GPU.
COBALT INDIGO 2110 BIDI4 Gateway
Cobalt’s multiviewer lineup includes two SDI models in openGear form factor – the cascadable 5-input 9970-QS with support for resolutions of up to 3G, and the 18-input, 2-head 9971 with support for resolutions up to 4K.
More ST 2110 Support
Cobalt’s new INDIGO hardware further demonstrated the company’s focus on ST 2110 support at IBC. The COBALT INDIGO 2110-DC-01 factory add-on option for openGear cards adds native SMPTE 2110 support with 25G Ethernet interfaces. When added to Cobalt’s 9904 and 9905 signal processing families, users can support ST 2110 with very high density and diverse functionality.
Cobalt-converters
The COBALT INDIGO OG-2110-BIDI4-GATEWAY is a bi-directional quad-channel native ST 2110 interface to SDI I/O, available in the openGear form factor. The COBALT PACIFIC 9992-ENC-INDIGO openGear card incorporates the INDIGO 2110-DC-02 option into Cobalt’s PACIFIC 9992-ENC encoder. For mobile ST 2110 support, the COBALT SAPPHIRE ST 2110 Mini Converters range from single and dual to quad channel units. www.cobaltdigital.com
