Western Digital has released two new professional Flash storage SSDs that expand the SanDisk line-up of portable drives and are made for content creators who need to store large amounts of data while on the move in harsh or unpredictable conditions.

SanDisk Extreme PRO with USB4 is one of the first portable SSDs built with a USB4 interface. Designed for speed and performance, it has USB4 connectivity with speeds up to 3,800 MB/s read and up to 3,700 MB/s write, executing fast file transfers that maintain workflow processes, give instant access to content, and smoothly deliver 3D rendering.

The drive has a rugged silicone shell and forged aluminum chassis to help protect data, allowing access to files without affecting reliability. Its IP65 water and dust resistant design helps withstand splashes, rain and spills. The SanDisk Extreme PRO with USB4 is also drop protected up to two metres.

The 8TB SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD is developed for people creating massive files or backing up huge content libraries while working outside a studio or office. With its combination of speed, durability and capacity, the portable SSD can keep up with the content demands of fast-paced productions. It can achieve up to 1050MB/s read and up to 1000MB/s write speeds. The 8TBSanDisk Extreme Portable SSD is currently available at SanDisk.com and retailers. www.westerndigital.com
