MPC and Mikros Animation have appointed Doug Bloom as Senior Technology Officer, bringing over 25 years experience in VFX, animation, immersive experiences and generative AI.

MPC (Moving Picture Company) and Mikros Animation, part of the Technicolor Group, have announced the appointment of Doug Bloom as Senior Technology Officer. With over 25 years of experience in the entertainment industry, Doug brings expertise in visual effects, animation and immersive experiences. His diverse portfolio encompasses feature films, theme park attractions and R&D projects for top technology companies.

Doug’s most recent role has been Director of Technical Art at the Neon/StarLabs division of Samsung Research America, where he led the development of real-time, hyper-realistic virtual humans. He led cross-functional teams of researchers and engineers in advancing generative AI, machine learning and real-time computing, developing digital experiences across multiple platforms.

Prior to his work at Samsung, Doug held senior creative positions at studios including Framestore and Method Studios. At Framestore he was Creative Director and VFX Supervisor, overseeing VFX and animation on projects for clients including Disney, Universal and Virgin Galactic. He led teams of developers and real-time artists in creating new types of VR and AR experiences, and guided projects through all stages of production from initial concept to final delivery.

At Method Studios, Doug was instrumental in expanding the company’s capabilities to include themed entertainment and experiential content. His work as Visual Effects Supervisor on high-profile projects, including Dr. Strange and Black Panther demonstrated his ability to blend creative direction with technical expertise. He also played a key role in speeding up and simplifying production workflows, creating middleware and artist-facing tools to enhance efficiency.

As Senior Technology Officer, Doug will report to Andrea Miloro, Chief Business and Strategy Officer, MPC and Mikros Animation, and lead the development and implementation of techniques and methods that drive innovation across global operations for both studios. His leadership will focus on enhancing creative tools and production workflows, integrating AI-driven approaches, and pushing the studios’ capabilities forward in real-time rendering and virtual production.
