Carlotta Rio joins Molinare as Senior Colourist, bringing extensive experience across high-end documentary and episodic scripted projects.
UK post-production facility Molinare announced the appointment of Carlotta Rio to Senior Colourist. She brings a wealth of experience across feature documentaries, episodic factual and drama projects, further strengthening the team’s services to its clients.
Carlotta joins following a two-year stint at London post house Splice as Senior Colourist. Here, Rio worked on the documentary, My Sexual Abuse: The Sitcom, Kim Longinotto’s Dalton’s Dream and the second series of an award-winning comedy series, with a transaction date yet to be released.
Before to her time at Splice, Carlotta spent 10 years at the factual post house Evolutions. Joining as Senior Edit Assistant, she progressed to Baselight Project and Workflow Supervisor, before taking the step to colourist in 2017. As colourist at Evolutions, she lent her eye to a plethora of high-end documentary work. Highlights include Workerbee’s four-part documentary Janet Jackson, and Oxford Scientific’s Meerkat Manor: Rise of the Dynasty.
Carlotta’s strengths are driven by creativity and spirit of adventure, drawing on her time as an underwater videographer. Her understanding of conveying emotion through the grade, and adeptness to adapt not only results in creative and technical excellence for each project, but also a trusted relationship with her clients. As Molinare continues to grow its feature documentary, high-end episodic factual and drama output, her style and demonstrated solid body of work perfectly complements Molinare’s three current colourists, further strengthening the team.
Nigel Bennett, CEO, Molinare, commened on the appointment, “Molinare has a stellar team of colourists who deliver excellence in their field every day. Carlotta is the perfect addition to the team and brings incredible value to all our clients across the scripted and un-scripted genres.”
Carlotta added, “I’ve always admired the high-end premium projects Molinare works on. The high praise I had heard from clients and friends working in the industry has meant that it has been a company on my radar for a long time. From the exceptional tech and production support teams to the client services, I’m genuinely honoured to be part of this team and embarking on my Molinare journey.”
She will report to Head of Grading and Senior Colourist Ross Baker, who said, “I’m incredibly proud of the colour team we have built. From our support team to our workflow technicians, to our ops on the Baselight – we’ve cultivated a great culture, all the while consistently delivering gold standard work. Carlotta is an exceptional hire, seamlessly integrating into our team with a dedicated approach both to the team and to her work, the cornerstone of Molinare.” molinare.co.uk
