The Post New York Alliance’s Post Break series will feature a panel on the potential acquisition of Warner Bros. by Netflix – a consequential studio consolidation for the streaming era.

The Post New York Alliance’s (PNYA) Post Break series returns with a timely conversation examining what could become the most consequential studio consolidation of the streaming era - the potential acquisition of Warner Bros. by Netflix. The free-to-attend live virtual session will take place on 22 January at 4pmET and is titled The New Wave: Entertainment Industry After Netflix-WB.
This PNYA Post Break will bring together senior film executives to unpack what this merger could mean for New York’s post-production community, independent film, theatrical exhibition, and the future of creative labour.
The discussion will be produced and moderated by CEO of Trevanna Post Yana Collins Lehman with a panel including -
Jeff Roth, former Vice President of Production Strategy & Operations at Netflix
Anthony Katagas, Academy Award–winning independent producer (12 Years a Slave, Marty Supreme)
Pete Conlin, producer and post-production entrepreneur (Company3, Goldcrest, ProdPro)
Tom Hall, Executive Director, Montclair Film
Together, the panel will explore what efficiency really means in the wake of large-scale mergers, and who ultimately bears the cost. Topics will include the future of entry-level roles, the sustainability of independent production, evolving performance metrics for film and television, and how streaming platforms may recalibrate success in a post-theatrical-window world.
The conversation will also address speculation around potential third-party bidders, including legacy media companies and emerging AI-driven players, and what further consolidation could signal for creatives, technologists and exhibitors.
PNYA Post Breaks are known for candid, community-driven dialogue, and this one promises to spark rigorous debate around consolidation, power and the changing definition of success. As the industry prepares for another major structural shift, this Post Break episode aims to provide clarity, context and perspective for those navigating what comes next.
The live podcast session will be virtual and open to the public. You can sign up for the free virtual panel via PNYA’s website, here: www.postnewyork.org
