Broadpeak’s new Click2 feature for SSAI enables viewers to interact with ads as they watch video streaming services, opening up a new type of ad inventory for video service providers.
Broadpeak, developers of CDN and video streaming systems for content providers and pay-TV operators, have made a new interactive advertising feature called Click2 available on the company’s server-side ad insertion (SSAI) tools. Click2 enables viewers to interact with ads as they watch video streaming services, opening up a new type of ad inventory for video service providers.
By setting up the Click2 feature on the broadpeak.io Dynamic Ad Insertion service, video providers with services on any streaming platform gain an advantage for viewer engagement and monetisation.“This marks a turning point for advertisers and streamers, bringing opportunities to OTT that are similar to those in the world of web advertising, for example, click-through and other indicators that measure the performance of ads,” said Mathias Guille, vice president cloud platform at Broadpeak.

Click2 allows viewers to click directly on banner ads within the video stream on their devices — including connected TVs, smart TVs and Android TVs. After clicking on the ad, viewers receive a notification or SMS on their phone or other mobile device with information about the product featured in the ad and an opportunity to purchase it. Viewers can simultaneously keep watching video streaming services, while looking at branded products on their companion device.
With Click2, video service providers can start charging for ads per click instead of per impression, opening up additional revenue streams. Click2 makes it easy to create clickable video streaming ads at scale without requiring any work from the advertiser or agency side. Video service providers use the existing standard in-stream ad to generate interactive ads. Furthermore, Click2 generates performance indicators about the ad for advertisers, not just impressions, increasing the value of targeted advertising.
