Maxon One’s most recent set of updates introduces new features and tools to ZBrush for desktop and iPad, Red Giant, Maxon Studio, Cinema 4D, Redshift and Cineware.

ZBrush on iPad now features capabilities that bring it closer to the desktop version including ZModeler, featuring a redesigned interface for more complex polygonal modelling. ZModeler is a brush containing polygonal modelling functions that generates a wide variety of shapes, and is used for very low resolution modelling to build a base mesh or object with as few polygons as possible.

Cinema 4D has new spline tools and simulation updates.

The desktop version receives updates such as new presets, improved snapping controls for Insert Edge Loop, and a refined selection mode. Nanomesh is now supported on iPad, allowing the placement of models on mesh polygons without affecting performance. UV Master, also now on iPad, serves as a method to unwrap 3D models in one click and make it possible to use Surface Noise, Texture Maps, IMM brushes with UVs, and displacement mapping.

Workflow integration between ZBrush and Cinema 4D also continues to improve interoperability between the mobile and desktop environments.

Adding Looks and New Motion Tools

Support for DaVinci Resolve has been extended. Red Giant now brings tools such as Real Lens Flares, which simulate light behaviour based on physical lens properties, to Resolve. Optical Glow applies smooth light effects like neon lights and sci-fi looks, Magic Bullet Looks adds specific colour correction styles, and the Universe Toolkit also has a range of effects and transitions including VHS and Bokeh.

Maxon Studio’s template engine for Adobe After Effects now has over 100 new motion graphics capsules, developed by artist Andy Needham, a Cinema 4D Master Trainer. Intended to speed up design workflows, these templates are customisable. Further vertically oriented templates are optimised for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

Cinema 4D gains new spline tools and simulation updates. The integration of Spline Modifiers from Rocket Lasso allows more extensive spline manipulation, supporting animation and typography workflows. The simulation system’s unified physics and particle features are upgraded to improve realism and performance.

Redshift Rendering with New USD, OpenPBR Support

The Redshift rendering workflow has new support for OpenPBR materials, material graph baking for better viewport previews in Cinema 4D, and Houdini enhancements that interpolate per-point attributes into smooth gradients for hair curves. Redshift also supports automatic material conversion from V-Ray and Corona in 3ds Max, and ZBrush now allows concept renders using Redshift.

The USD procedural tool in Maya, Katana and Houdini and Solaris now supports overrides, simplifying asset management. The USD Procedural, a Redshift USD loader, works in a similar way to a Redshift proxy file – USD assets are only loaded at render time, which means the primary scene file can remain lightweight, speeding up scene extraction time.

Cineware for Unreal Engine has been updated to support rigged and animated characters. Cinema 4D scenes can now be transferred into Unreal Engine with fewer steps, supporting the import of assets, materials, lighting and animations. Fully rigged skeletal animations can also be moved across, enhancing game environment and cinematic workflows.    maxon.net
