Mediagenix and Spideo’s AI semantic recommendation engine works with White Peaks’ video platform to enable real-time personalization on Sharjah Broadcasting’s Maraya OTT service.

Mediagenix profile

Mediagenix and OTT specialist and consultancy White Peaks Solutions have formed a strategic collaboration with the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority to initiating content personalization at Maraya, the authority’s primary streaming platform.

Sharjah Broadcasting Authority is the public media entity of the Emirate of Sharjah. Its digital platforms, including Maraya, aim to distribute cultural heritage, educational content and entertainment to Arabic-speaking audiences around the world.

Mediagenix develops intelligent content systems to connect content to the right audience. The company has built a modular SaaS platform that orchestrates the content monetisation lifecycle to actively establish audience engagement and generate value from content through its life. Its strategic approach pulls content title management, scheduling and personalization into one workflow revolving around one source of truth.

Semantic Recommendation Engine

This project revolves around a semantic recommendation engine that comes from Spideo, a developer of AI-assisted personalisation and recommendations for streaming platforms, which Mediagenix acquired in 2024. The Spideo engine is now part of the Mediagenix Recommendation product suite, and enables real-time personalization based on semantic data, user context and editorial objectives.

Mediagenix monetise

A large element of semantics is context and structuring data to add meaning using relationships between the data elements. Because of this, intuitive recommendations can be aligned with both user intent and brand values. According to Mediagenix, this kind of personalisation increases engagement and conversion, while reducing the curation effort.

Consequently, Maraya users will have the advantage of human-centred personalisation, used as part of White Peaks Solutions’ content management system [CMS] FAULIO and the KWIKmotion online video platform. Organisations like Sharjah Broadcasting use KWIKmotion and FAULIO to launch and monetise their own OTT platforms, and to optimise their monetization options in order to lower overall cost and save time.

From Recommendation to CMS

The KWIKmotion suite of services, for instance, facilitates the smooth, simultaneous delivery of content across multiple devices and platforms in a secure, scalable environment. It includes the Faulio CMS for managing multi-screen content libraries, curating, monetizing and serving video metadata. By integrating these features, KWIKmotion avoids reliance on third-party providers, and helps the user design a unified, consistent content delivery system.

Faulio serves web, mobile or TV frontends, keeping the user’s design and functionality intact while acting as an efficient, robust backend. FAULIO overcomes compatibility issues, easing integration, and includes customization options as well.

Engagement and Retention

“This partnership marks a new chapter in how Maraya combines technology and storytelling to elevate our platform,” said Salem AlJunaidi, Head of Content at Maraya Platform. “It’s an important part of how we will continue to entertain our growing number of viewers across the MENA region.”

“We’re pleased to partner with Mediagenix and integrate its AI-powered semantic recommendation engine with our CMS, FAULIO, in order to deliver personalization capabilities that will ensure Maraya maintains its position as one of the leading streaming platforms in the region,” said Jessy Abou Habib, Chief Operating Officer, White Peaks Solutions.

“Personalisation is no longer just a nice-to-have – it’s a critical driver of engagement and retention,” said Thibault d’Orso, co-founder at Spideo who now leads business development at Mediagenix. “By combining semantic intelligence with editorial agility, we're helping Maraya offer the right content, to the right audience, at the right moment.” www.mediagenix.tv
