Indian regional channel Reporter TV in Kerala has equipped its news teams with a fleet of LiveU multi-cam LU800 units and LU-Smart apps to support its strategic operational growth.
Regional TV channel, Reporter TV, in India is making plans to expand its newsgathering capabilities all over the country in the run-up to the 2024 Indian election and into the future. A Malayalam-language news channel, Reporter TV will now be broadcasting content in nine regional languages, reaching millions of viewers on both its linear TV and digital platforms.
Reporter TV has selected LiveU portable IP-video systems, supplied by LiveU's local partner, Lamhas Satellite Services, to deliver content from multiple locations in Kerala and right across India. "We made a decision to invest in the best broadcast technology, enabling us to grow our reach not only locally but also from further afield,” Anto Augustine, Managing Director, Reporter TV, said.

The channel’s reporters will be using LU800 multi-camera field contribution encoders and LU-Smart mobile app licenses across the country to deliver daily live news through high-quality feeds. The LRT (LiveU Reliable Transport) protocol makes LiveU's transmissions especially resilient, and was a key factor in their decision. Specialised for low latency, high resiliency video and audio transmission, LRT is optimised to support bonding of multiple IP connections and was built to accommodate the properties of 4G/5G cellular in particular as well as traditional wireless and wired networks.
The LU800's multi-camera capabilities are also important to Reporter TV, allowing camera operators to cover events from multiple angles using a single unit, resulting in a more immersive video experience for viewers.
