VideoIPath’s Release 2023 LTS features and capabilities are designed to make it simpler for users to orchestrate, operate and monitor their broadcast infrastructure and media networks.
Nevion’s 2023 LTS release of its media orchestration platform, VideoIPath continues to support Nevion’s aim for VideoIPath – putting users in better control of their operations. This LTS (long term support) release contains many features and capabilities that are designed to make it simpler for users to orchestrate, operate and monitor their broadcast infrastructure and media networks.
VideoIPath is a key component of Sony’s Networked Live workflow, where it looks after network and broadcast control, real-time video/audio transport and hybrid processing, on-premises and in the cloud. It is deployed by broadcasters and telecom service providers around the world in diverse applications such as contribution, remote production, facilities, OB trucks and GCCG (ground-to-cloud-cloud-to-ground).
VideoIPath is also an open system, allowing it to be integrated into existing environments, with interfaces to any device and equipment, and support for familiar control surfaces.
Overall, a primary feature of the release is a new graphic user-interface (GUI) with a modern look and feel that that includes search and filtering updates, faster refresh of the user interface when changes occur, and more customisation options for tailoring the user experience. The GUI now allows linking between different applications, reducing the number of clicks required to increase efficiency.
VideoIPath’s functionality for managing broadcast operations has been a critical focus area for the 2023 LTS release, with an emphasis on enabling workflows that take advantage of the flexibility inherent in IP, including in hybrid SDI/IP environments. One example is support for camera control workflows and fast switching in IP, which can be used for shading, for example. The release also now encompasses support for GPIO connection management and logic.
VideoIPath’s network and resource orchestration capabilities have also been further enhanced, mainly in terms of scalability and performance. One of the largest VideoIPath deployments now involves over 200,000 endpoints and 81,000 simultaneous connections – and is growing. The release contains new north-bound interfaces (communicating with higher-level or more central components), including legacy protocols, to support systems and control surfaces familiar to users, as well as multiple south-bound drivers for production equipment – building on the extensive list of device interfaces that VideoIPath makes available.
