TAG now supports Evertz DreamCatcher replay system, allowing operators to integrate data more effectively, enhance functionality, and access a wider choice of multiviewer options.
TAG Video Systems’ Realtime Media Platform now supports Evertz DreamCatcher sports replay system. DreamCatcher, based on IP connectivity, is made for use in stadiums and other stationary sports venues. Integrating DreamCatcher into TAG’s platform makes it possible to integrate data more effectively into replays, enhances DreamCatcher’s functionality, and gives users a wider choice when evaluating multiviewer options.
TAG’s platform monitors, aggregates and manages data-driven viewer analytics, generating the information and visualisations needed to build linear media systems. The platform’s software is based on TAG’s Multi-Channel Monitoring [MCM], a comprehensive software-based IP monitoring system used for deep probing, logging and viewing.
Interoperability
This new integration with the DreamCatcher is an example of the TAG platform’s interoperability with 3rd party products. TAG’s open architecture, based on IP networking and COTS hardware, allows the software to work with Evertz’ products as well as systems from various other developers including EVS, Nevion and Imagine. Having access to a wider array of tools gives users the agility and options they need to build complete workflows that deliver higher quality content and serve the intended purpose.
Integration with DreamCatcher enables users to take advantage of TAG’s monitoring, probing and visualization capabilities, but also allows text to be added over the video on the TAG multiviewer. This added functionality is a cost-effective way to simplify the replay operator’s job. The combination of TAG’s multiviewer and Evertz’s DreamCatcher allows six different metadata labels to be shown, including the current time, video timestamp, clip name, clip ID, play status, playlist name and play time – data that the operators need to avoid human error, create content and execute their jobs successfully in real-time.
TAG and DreamCatcher at Texas A&M
The first adaptor of the integrated system is 12th Man Productions, the production department at Texas A&M University, which was already a user of TAG’s Realtime Media Performance tools. Jonathan Kerr, Chief Broadcast Engineer at 12th Man, said, “At Texas A&M, we have one of the largest football stadiums in the country. We’ve been using TAG’s multiviewer with DreamCatcher for several weeks now, and it’s been very helpful.
“We use a lot of clips and plan everything we do down to the second. Giving our producers the ability to see the DreamCatcher data on the TAG multiviewer shows them when a playlist is going to end, when a clip is going to end and how long the video has been running – all invaluable information that enhances our production values and elevates quality.”
Jonathan’s team operates a total of six DreamCatchers, four of which are dedicated to football. TAG's integration has made it possible for their producers, directors and others in the control room – as well as the operators themselves – to see the metadata on every output in front of them. “This means they don’t have to stop and search elsewhere when they need to see how long a video has been playing or how much it has left,” Jonathan said. tagvs.com
