MSI’s Creator 15 is made for graphic designers, including web design, for working in video and photography, and for compositing. The laptop is built with the 10th Generation Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU. The large 99.9Whr (Watt/hour) battery capacity and light weight of 2.1kg means you can do studio-level work almost anywhere.
The i7 processor accelerates performance with 8 cores and, as 10th generation hardware, is designed for heavier multitasking and professional grade processing jobs. Creator 15 achieves up to 5.3 GHz (clock speed or processing cycles/sec) Single Core Turbo. Turbo processing means that, when fewer than the total number of cores are in use, the processor can turn off unused cores and increase the clock speed on the other cores. The result is higher performance while using less power.
Creator 15 is one of the RTX Studio devices with an NVIDIA Geforce RTX GPU, tested for workflows that need real-time hardware-accelerated ray tracing, photoreal textures and lag-free interaction, and engineered to fit into a thin profile laptop. Users can choose between the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER with Max-Q design and GDDR6 8GB frame buffer, built for efficiency and low power consumption, and the RTX 2060 with a GDDR6 6GB frame buffer.
The memory kit has DDR IV 8GBx2 (2666MHz), that is, it is made up of two 8GB modules supporting a 2666 MHz clock speed, for a total capacity of 16GB. Memory can be upgraded to a maximum of 64GB.
For storage, both models have a very fast 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen3x4 SSD, and two M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen3 expansion slots. I/O ports include Thunderbolt 3, Type-A and Type-C USB3.2 Gen2, HDMI, and SD card reader and an ethernet port.
The 15.6in screen comes in either 4K or full-HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, with the True Pixel display system, True Color Technology and AdobeRGB 100% colour gamut. It is factory calibrated for colour accuracy with Delta E less than 2. True Pixels have the traditional LED light configuration – each pixel is made up of a red, a green and a blue diode, placed in a triangular cluster. Resolution is measured from the centre of one cluster to the next.
True Color Technology refers to MSI’s factory calibration of each panel before shipping, calibrating for colour gamut, temperature and gray scale before workstation assembly, and then calibrated for the model’s corresponding colour profile. Users can share colour profiles, adjust colour temperature and sync their settings across supported displays.
The display is also verified under the Calman Verified certification program, widely recognised and developed to use Portrait Displays’ Calman software to evaluate whether a display has met their criteria for video editing and review. The certification evaluates colour temperature, gamma curve and Delta E.
The display can be used as a touchscreen if needed to make navigation quicker and more interactive with fast-scrolling and pinch-to-zoom gesturing.
The Creator 15 chassis is built of solid aluminium with a low-profile sandblasted carbon gray finish. Find purchasing information here. Prices vary from AUD 3,999 to AUD 5,299. www.msi.com
