Digital Nirvana has developed MetadataIQ, a new metadata automation tool for content producers using Avid media software. MetadataIQ is a secure, scalable software-as-a-service (SaaS) that integrates with Avid Interplay to automate the complete process of generating speech-to-text and video intelligence metadata for Avid-based assets. It automatically submits media for transcription, captioning and translations from within the existing workflow.
Operators use MetadataIQ to create and ingest different types of metadata, which can then be accessed through the Avid MediaCentral environment. Example types include speech-to-text, facial recognition, OCR, logos and objects, each with customisable marker durations and colour codes for identification. Editors type a search term within Interplay or MediaCentral, and can then identify the relevant clip for the content they are creating. For VOD and content repurposing, this kind of video intelligence metadata aids in product placement or replacement, and in accurately identifying ad spots.
The platform is one of the first to perform on-premises transcoding and intelligent extraction of audio files to generate speech-to-text transcripts. Users aren’t required to create a low-res proxy or manually import files into Avid MediaCentral. MetadataIQ automatically generates speech-to-text transcripts for file-based assets, and will also stream speech-to-text transcripts from growing audio assets in real time. Operators also have the option to have the transcripts sent to Digital Nirvana’s processing centres for high-quality human-curated output, which is returned within Interplay.
To generate the actual transcripts and captions, MetadataIQ integrates directly with the company’s Trance software. Trance is also a cloud-based, SaaS platform, using AI to auto-generate transcripts, create closed captions and translate text into over 100 languages, in all formats the industry supports. In-house teams can submit files directly from their existing workflow and receive the output as sidecar files, or ingest them directly back into Interplay as markers.
