LiveU IQ delivers high quality, low latency broadcast transmissions over bonded cellular networks without relying on costly connectivity, unconstrained by a pre-allocated network.

LiveU LIQ2

A well-known broadcaster and long-term LiveU customer has successfully completed a series of live connectivity tests using the LiveU IQ (LIQ) system. Taking advantage of AI-driven intelligent decision-making, LIQ automatically switches modems dynamically, from one carrier to another, based on the highest performing networks available at a specific location and time.

The broadcaster tested the resilience and performance of LIQ at several live sports events, including international rugby and top-level soccer matches, and news sites in Europe from locations with congested or limited cellular coverage. The broadcast team worked with a fleet of LiveU LU800 video-over-bonded-IP encoder units, and was able to maintain a consistent stream throughout each session by allowing LIQ to intelligently select the highest performing cellular network operators in each location.

In these challenging scenarios, LIQ delivered high quality, low latency broadcast transmissions over bonded cellular networks that would previously have required the use of connectivity options that are generally more expensive and complex to design and set up.

As demonstrated by these tests, broadcasters using LIQ are not constrained by a pre-allocated network. They have access to predictable data analytics that allow them to overcome difficulties previously experienced in known challenging environments. In other words, for such applications, depending on a fixed set of options – regardless of how successful they have been – is not sufficient.

LiveU LIQ

In moments that typically attract peak public network usage, such as a goal score or half time when fans are trying to connect, LIQ was shown to overcome network challenges, thereby outperforming conventional bonded connections. It combines three different decision-making approaches – historical transmission data, AI and dynamically switchable eSIMs.

It also accesses the resilience of the LiveU wireless IP-video protocol, LiveU Reliable Transport (LRT), and takes advantage of the company's network operator partners. These operators can make the best cellular connectivity profile available whenever and wherever video crews need to set up a stream.

"LIQ represents a fundamental shift in broadcast connectivity," said Yulia Rozmarin, LiveU's Director of Product Management. "Broadcasters can now confidently deploy in challenging environments that previously required expensive satellite or fiber options, knowing LIQ will continuously optimize their connection parameters to deliver better performance and higher bitrates." www.liveu.tv
