Haivision and Grabyo have formed a partnership resulting in an integrated system for contributing multi-camera video into low latency cloud-based remote production workflows. The integration combines Grabyo’s cloud production platform with Haivision Makito X4 video encoders and Haivision Pro and Air mobile video transmitters to deliver contribution streams at ultra-low latency, assuring the effectiveness of collaboration between production teams and on-site operators.
Peter Maag, Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President, Strategic Partnerships said that while cloud production gives broadcasters the ability to use resources when and where they are needed, it still relies on tight integration with the on-site cameras and operators.
With this system, any of Haivision’s live video contribution devices can be used to stream up to 16 live HD video inputs – SRT, RTMP, RTP, HLS, MPEG-TS or Zixi feeds at sub-second latency - over public and private networks. The system can also receive HTML with key and fill graphics and remote guests over WebRTC, and detect SCTE-35 ad markers.
Mobile Video Transmitters
Haivision Air Transmitter
The Haivision Pro mobile video transmitter series deliver multi-camera, synchronised video over bonded cellular and IP networks and are made for use on camera mounts or backpacks. The various device models support 4K/UHD, quad-HD and 10-bit HDR content. Users can stream live video over the internet with SRT, and with Haivision’s proprietary SST over bonded networks.
Haivision Air transmitters are mobile live video transmitters with rechargable batteries and 5G, 4G-LTE and 3G connectivity, supporting HD video broadcast from any location. They are designed for remote production with remote latency configuration, camera remote control and multi-camera synchronisation. Both the Air and Pro transmitters have bi-directional IFB intercom and video return.
Broadcast Production
The feeds can be sent directly to Grabyo Producer for frame-accurate synchronisation and camera switching, instant slow-motion replay, SCTE-35 ad insertion and multi-track audio mixing. The final output is transformed to high-fidelity SRT, RTMP, RTP, MPEG-TS or Zixi. The platform is fully distributed and cloud-native, so that production teams can collaborate in real time from any location.
Grabyo Producer
The Haivision Makito encoders have up to 8 high performance encoding cores supporting multi-camera SDI or SMPTE 2110 ingest to use in multi-bitrate workflows. Deployment options range from super-compact appliances to larger high-density chassis set-ups. As in this case with Grabyo, they can combined into a complete low latency system for encoding, streaming and decoding with central management and remote control. The workflows can be extended back to the studio by including Makito X4 video decoders for displaying low latency SRT streams from the Grabyo cloud platform to SDI-based production monitors.
