The EOS C70 has a firmware update with more functionality for filmmakers, including support for Canon’s XC Protocol, allowing integration into multi-camera systems with direct control.
The Canon EOS C70 cinema camera with an RF lens mount has a new firmware update with greater functionality for filmmakers, including the ability to monitor up to four audio channels in the on-screen meter display.
Powered by Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF, the EOS C70 is now capable of Face and Eye Detection AF and tracking in both slow and fast shooting modes. Alongside the current XF-AVC Intra recording at 410Mbps, new 4K Intra recording options are available up to 60P/50P at 600Mbps, improving image quality while retaining efficient file sizes.
For multi-cam production, the update includes support for Canon’s XC Protocol, allowing integration into multi-camera systems with direct control via Canon’s RC-IP100 remote camera controller and Remote Camera Control Application. These tools support local or remote operation when used with Canon’s Compact Servo lenses including the CN-E 18-80mm T4.4 L IS KAS S and CN-E 70-200mm T4.4 L IS KAS S.
Furthermore, a new Custom Picture option called Canon 709 has been added to the menu system to bring a similar look to Original Wide DR, without using super-white to avoid any potential issue with range conversion.
The firmware update also adds support for Canon’s recently released Flex Zoom Cinema lenses as well as the new Cine-Servo CN8x15 IAS S lens – optimising lens performance when combined with the EOS C70.
