Mediaproxy compliance monitoring continues its collaboration with closed caption specialist AI-Media by adding the new LEXI Recorded feature to its LogServer logger and recorder.

Mediaproxy AI Media Partner Tile

Mediaproxy, a specialist in software-based IP compliance, has expanded the capabilities and scope of its LogServer compliance monitoring system by integrating a self-service captioning and transcription platform called LEXI Recorded, recently launched by AI-Media Technologies.

This integration is a new development in an ongoing partnership between Mediaproxy and broadcast technology developer AI-Media. Specialising in closed captioning, AI-Media was originally a Mediaproxy customer, but the two companies have since collaborated more closely, initially by integrating LogServer with AI-Media's iCap cloud network.

With the aim of making television programs more accessible to deaf and hard of hearing viewers, AI-Media develops a range of captioning tools and services to generate, distribute and display subtitles for various broadcasting and streaming platforms. As well as the cloud network, its products include viewing systems and encoders, with the LEXI AI-powered toolkit as its core product.

LEXI’s features include automatic captioning, translation and disaster recovery capabilities. LEXI Recorded, released in February 2024, is its most recent tool – a cloud service designed to deliver fast turn-around captions for Video On Demand, along with transcriptions and translations of broadcast output. Like LogServer, LEXI Recorded is file-based, which has allowed a straightforward integration of the two systems.

Mediaproxy announced at the 2024 NAB Show that LogServer works with LEXI Recorded by outputting content from its logger/recorder into the AI-Media system for captioning, translation and transcription. "Our software is now also fully integrated into LogServer, so that broadcasters can generate a transcript on-demand from within the LogServer software, just by selecting in- and out-points on a clip they want captioned and uploading it to LEXI Recorded," said Declan Gallagher, general manager of sales for the Asia Pacific region at AI-Media.

"In this case, the application is primarily compliance. For example, if a broadcaster were asked what went to air on a particular channel, they would be able to quickly produce a transcript of the content in question even if it hadn’t been captioned. Integrating further with LogServer has given our new service – and our users – a high degree of functionality and flexibility for an increasingly important aspect of broadcasting."

Mediaproxy's chief executive Erik Otto commented, "The integration of LEXI Recorded is an significant addition to LogServer’s features and gives a great deal of flexibility in the crucial area of captioning and transcription. The partnership with AI-Media is long-standing and getting stronger. We are pleased to be working with such dedicated experts in this specialist field and helping to provide better accessibility for a wider TV audience." www.mediaproxy.com
