Harmonic VOS 360 Media SaaS and VOS360 Ad SaaS are now qualified on Akamai’s cloud, improving efficiency and security for playout, broadcast and video streaming workflows.
Harmonic VOS 360 Media SaaS and VOS360 Ad SaaS are now qualified on the Akamai cybersecurity and cloud platform that is used to run and protect business applications online. This qualification can lead to greater efficiency for the deployment of playout, broadcast and video streaming workflows.
Also, through this collaboration, VOS360 Media SaaS will run the upcoming Akamai Media Services Live 5, a set of tools for live event broadcasting and linear streaming. An independent software vendor, Harmonic is part of the Akamai Qualified Compute Partner Program.
This partnership is intended to make efficient, cost-effective video solutions available that are comprehensive and able to accelerate the time to market for streaming and broadcast services. Both companies anticipate that these solutions will help content owners, broadcasters, service providers and pure streamers lower their total cost of ownership and open up new potential revenue-generating opportunities.
Harmonic’s VOS360 Media SaaS simplifies all stages of media processing and delivery for video streaming and broadcast services. The VOS360 Ad SaaS serves as a complete workflow for personalised full-screen and in-stream ad delivery.
These two SaaS products can use the massively distributed edge and cloud platform from Akamai, taking advantage of its reliability and security to deliver high quality viewing experiences. In particular, by powering the upcoming Akamai Media Services Live 5, Harmonic VOS360 Media will be effective for 24/7 live linear services, delivering content reliably and at scale.
Akamai’s vice president of cloud computing Dan Lawrence noted that the collaboration with Harmonic has made it possible for Akamai to develop new cloud computing, security and content delivery capabilities for media and entertainment companies. “Companies using Harmonic’s VOS360 SaaS solutions on Akamai Cloud gain more control over their workflows,” he said. “With the ability to simplify viewing experiences, they can identify new ways to grow their businesses and reduce operational costs.”
Harmonic will demonstrate its cloud solutions at the 2025 NAB Show, 6-9 April in Las Vegas. www.harmonicinc.com
