Broadpeak's BkA100 video delivery analytics system now has a redesigned, more accessible interface, dashboard customisation tools and A/B testing capabilities. The result is a more accurate, comprehensive view of what is happening within the video delivery network so that video providers can identify and adjust relevant parameters, and continuously improve end-users’ QoE.
“Data and analytics are critical to video delivery today, and by enhancing the capabilities on our BkA100 system, we can give operators an opportunity to deliver a superior QoE,” said Nivedita Nouvel, vice president of marketing at Broadpeak. “The BkA100 collects a wide range of data at all levels, compiling a precise representation of quality-of-service issues. With customised dashboards and A/B testing now available on the BkA100, operators can continuously assess new delivery techniques and immediately see the impact on their video service subscribers.”
Satisfaction Dashboard
With the BkA100, operators can create highly detailed, customised and dedicated dashboards with visual metrics for various applications, such as live and VOD streaming, ad insertion and multicast ABR. Through customised analytics dashboards, operators can use the BkA100 to gain insights into video delivery and more effectively troubleshoot issues, reliably detect points of contention, and specifically monitor the indicators that are most important for them.
A/B testing was included to help users navigate the growing number of settings that operators can fine-tune within video delivery systems to optimise a viewer’s QoE. The BkA100 displays Cumulative Distribution Function (CDF) visualisations for A/B testing on the impact of a given parameter – for instance, player version or CDN feature activation – on key QoE metrics such as startup time, bitrate and freezes.
Session creations per video server
These updates on the BkA100 aim to allow operators to better analyse regional and PoP performance, more precisely measure audiences by geographical segments and increase the efficiency of targeted advertising by enabling them to gather valuable information about the ad, QoE and other factors.
Broadpeak’s BkA100 video delivery analytics gathers information from multiple places, including the player level and network side. From the player level, the BkA100 supports operators with relevant data on the startup time, freeze duration and percentage, delivered layer, and the connectivity of the player such as WiFi, 4G or wired to help place the QoE in context. On the network side, the BkA100 gathers information from the CDN, ad insertion system, Broadpeak’s nanoCDN multicast ABR system, and the CDN selector, Broadpeak umbrellaCDN.
