Ateme’s NEA packaging and CDN software has made it possible for service provider Volia to set up scalable, adaptable disaster recovery for Cloud DVR and CDN services in war-torn Ukraine.
Volia, a pay-TV and cable broadband service provider in Ukraine, has chosen Ateme to supply a Disaster Recovery system for its packaging and CDN platform. An existing customer of Ateme, Volia is using the Ateme NEA packaging and CDN software to launch a Disaster Recovery headend. This means that together, Ateme and Volia can continue to deliver high-quality news and entertainment programming OTT for Ukrainian customers via a robust connection, even in very challenging circumstances.
Volia needs equipment that is quite flexible, because media and entertainment customers in Ukraine cannot readily secure specific hardware or equipment. Ateme’s NEA is hardware-agnostic, and the NEA CDN software is cloud-native and can be deployed on facility- or cloud-based infrastructure. Its containerised orchestration makes it scalable enough to adapt CDN capacity to real traffic variations.
As a result, Volia can avoid having to invest in over-provisioning to cover irregular traffic peaks, and save money. Storage capacity can be scaled smoothly with a hyper-converged architecture. They can also avoid unnecessary processing with NEA’s just-in-time packaging, which quickly adjusts their delivery infrastructure to meet fluctuating demand.
The new Disaster Recovery system was integrated in May 2023 and has been live since then. Volia CTO Andrii Val said, “We welcome Ateme as a long-standing partner of Volia Cable and are pleased to renew our confidence in their service and the quality of the software. We specifically chose Ateme for Disaster Recovery because we needed a reliable and flexible system that could be adapted to our needs in difficult circumstances.
“Furthermore, we didn’t just want a black-box integration that leaves us with no real knowledge of how the system functions within our facility, but a true partner to work with us and meet our objectives.”
Ilyas Laikov, Sales Director, Eastern Europe at Ateme, said “As a company, Ateme has extensive, proven experience in disaster recovery that enables us to rapidly set up robust DR projects for any company in any country. Ateme is proud to stand in partnership with Volia in these challenging circumstances to supply a robust disaster recovery system.” www.ateme.com
