XEN:Pipeline gives complete visibility of media companies’ assets across the content supply chain, whether stored on a standalone drive, in near line storage or in cloud or tape archives. It extracts relevant information and enables automated workflows to process the content without disrupting operations. The automated workflows based on business rules determine when and how the content is to be distributed, managing transfers, transcoding, conform, packaging and delivery. Because it draws on and creates very rich metadata, it automates all tasks, reporting only by exception and thus reducing manpower and increasing commercial efficiency.

Automation

The new XEN:Pipeline module adds functionality to integrate linear schedules and playlists into the process. Because it can track content all the way from the supplier to distribution, it can identify missing items, flagging them with the first use whether that is for linear or non-linear. By pulling content into the enterprise, from shared Client storage to playout or for preparation for distribution, XEN:Pipeline eliminates the need for a dedicated traffic layer.

XEN:Pipeline provides media companies with complete visibility of their assets right across their content supply chain, whether they are stored on a standalone drive, near line storage or in large cloud or tape archives. XEN:Pipeline can discover all assets, extract all of the relevant information and enable automated workflows to process the content without causing disruption to any other operations. The automated workflows based on business rules determine when and how the content is to be distributed, managing transfers, transcoding, conform, packaging and delivery. Because it draws on and creates very rich metadata, it is able to automate all tasks, reporting only by exception and thus reducing manpower and increasing commercial efficiency. The industry is looking for products that drive optimised automation, are hands off and only flag when there is an exception that needs management by a human resource.

XEN:Pipeline has been built from the ground up to deliver these concepts. With the addition of the new linear module, XEN:Pipeline can manage all content and files within a Client’s estate and prioritise delivery to all end points, linear and non-linear, in the right format and at the right time, guaranteeing SLA’s will be met. When content is missing it will automatically escalate to the relevant teams according to the logic held within the business process layer. This eliminates teams of resources managing the mundane and enables them to focus on other areas of the business that will drive new revenue streams.

XEN:Pipeline is offered as software as a service, generally implemented in the cloud. That means all the functionality can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection, a key requirement in an industry where remote and home working is becoming a norm.
