Ateliere Creative Technologies - Ateliere Live
Category Production
Ateliere Live is a cloud-native live production and editing platform that is significantly more cost-efficient and environmentally friendly than traditional systems. Production editing, mixing, graphics, and effects are integrated on a single software platform that enables REMI workflows with advanced proxy editing. The innovative design simplifies the creation of multiple production versions, enabling customers to reach more viewing platforms with relevant content.
Video stays in the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) until just prior to distribution, instead of being repeatedly encoded and decoded through a chain of video processing steps. This unique production pipeline eliminates unnecessary processing, significantly lowering the overall power requirements per production. This results in a substantially lower environmental footprint than traditional solutions. Current customer assessments show at least a 30% reduction in power requirements.
Ateliere Live supports proxy contribution feeds and synchronized proxy-master feed timing for remote production (REMI) workflows, allowing geographically dispersed production teams to maintain frame-accurate camera selections.
All editing, events, camera selections and graphics overlays are available via a public API, allowing third-party applications to operate or interact with custom behavior. Customers can easily tailor live production parameters to fit different workflows and platforms, including Twitch, TikTok, and YouTube.
Real World Case Study:
Take the example of Swedish public service broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT). SVT’s surprisingly popular “The Great Moose Migration” uses a slow TV format, streaming non-stop for 500+ hours. Multiple versions are distributed, including a multi camera and a main camera, plus versions with unique graphics for Sweden, Finland and Germany.
With 30 robotic cameras, the program previously required deploying equipment to the woods, with 5-6 staff remaining in a cabin for the length of the production. This year Ateliere Live was used to produce everything remotely using the internet as transport. (See illustrations.)
